Divorce in Pakistan follows two routes: Talaq (husband-initiated) under Section 7 of the MFLO 1961, involving a written notice to the Union Council and a mandatory 90-day reconciliation period; or Khula (wife-initiated) through the Family Court under the Dissolution of Muslim Marriages Act 1939. Both can be handled entirely remotely through a Power of Attorney. For Talaq, the total process takes approximately 16 weeks (90 days + NADRA update). For Khula, it takes 3-6 months depending on whether the husband contests. Our lawyers file all notices, attend all hearings, and obtain the divorce certificate and NADRA marital status update.
