Union Council

The lowest tier of local government in Pakistan. Union Councils are responsible for registering births, deaths, marriages, and divorces. Under the MFLO 1961, all nikah ceremonies must be registered with the Union Council. The Chairman of the Union Council also serves as the Chairman of the Arbitration Council in divorce matters.
